Shelley is an accomplished business and legal executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning strategic, operational, and legal functions. She has a proven track record of leading diverse, high-performing teams that drive exceptional results through proactive, solutions-focused leadership.
Her experience includes both private practice and in-house legal roles, having served as Chief Legal Officer for three organizations. In addition to her extensive legal background, Shelley has held senior business leadership positions with responsibility for national and global business lines comprising 250 to 1,000 employees.
Throughout her career, she has been accountable for overall legal and risk management functions, full profit and loss performance, strategic growth initiatives, client and stakeholder relationships, operational excellence, and overall business leadership. Shelley combines strong commercial acumen with deep legal expertise to support organizational growth, manage risk, and deliver sustainable business outcomes.
Selected Experience
- SVP & General Counsel with a large Calgary professional sports and entertainment company which, in addition to leading the legal function for five professional sports teams, involved operating the charitable foundations for each of those teams.
- Chief Legal Officer with a large institutional investment management organization which also included leading the compliance, governance and tax teams and their overall function.
- President of the global Consulting business (+1,000 employees) at a global engineering and consulting firm, with prior P&L leadership of two other project related business lines and service as VP, Legal & Commercial for North and South America.
- Negotiated major project and other contracts throughout North America, South America and APAC.
